Access Statement

INTRODUCTION: 

The hotel is situated on Goodrington Park with beautiful views of the park, and sea.  We are a family hotel; totally non-smoking and we offer a high standard of service to all ages of guests.  The hotel was built in 1882 and has been owned by Les and Cynthia Rose since July 2003.  Whilst the hotel has been refurbished everything has been done to keep some of its character like the ceilings in the restaurant and lounge.  The hotel has just had a new fire alarm system and there is a fire escape through room seven on the top floor. Les and Cynthia continue to take advantage of the courses offered by Quality in Tourism, Welcome Host, Risk Assessment etc.

The bus station and train station opposite, are approximately a ten minute walk but we do offer a collection service to our guests if possible, by arrangement.

ARRIVAL – CAR-PARKING FACILITIES:

All guests should use the main entrance off of Youngs Park Road.  There are 12 steps to the front entrance, with handrails on both sides.   You are welcome to check-in any time after 3pm and up to 11pm – any later and we expect to be advised.  On arrival you will have to ring the front door bell as the main door is kept locked at all times for the safety and security of our guests and their property.

Additional parking can be found at the rear of the hotel a short walk away.  We do suggest that the guests drop off everything to the main entrance and then park the vehicle.

There is a bus stop approximately eighty metres level walking from the front of the hotel. 

MAIN ENTRANCE AND RECEPTION:

On arrival at the front door the reception is straight in front of you.  The Lounge is to the left and the Bar and Restaurant is to your right, there are no steps to these rooms.  The floor has its original tiles and floorboards.

Registration Forms can be completed whilst seated in the Lounge.

Rooms 1 – 4 can be located on the first floor via a flight of sixteen stairs.

Rooms 5 – 8 can be located on the second floor via another flight of twelve stairs.

Rooms 10 – 11 can be located on the ground floor via a restricted access at the bottom of the stairs of 480 cm and the door to the wing is restricted to 530 cm.

There are only two bedrooms with steps and those are rooms 8 and 11 – there are no other steps in any of the other bedrooms or reception rooms.

PUBLIC AREAS:

The Lounge, Bar/Restaurant all have short pile carpeting and are without steps.  The Lounge has a leather suite, with period furniture, tourist information leaflets, maps, eating guides etc.

There is a ground floor bathroom for multi sex usage.

The Restaurant and Bar has closed loop nylon based carpeting, complemented by hard backed chairs.  There are large windows at both ends of the room as natural light is important and which is supported by various wall lights and a chandelier.  All tables are double clothed, with Kings cutlery and white crockery all matching; our colour theme is green and gold in this room. 

All guests are allocated their own table with the same number as their room.

The Bar area has a couple of low backed swivel stools.  

At breakfast you can go to your table and help yourselves to cereal, fruit juice, fruit etc.  Staff will take your order for beverages and your cooked breakfast.  There are menus on all tables and the staff are more than happy to help you make your choices for both breakfast and dinner.  Please advise the staff of any dietary requirements and we will do our best to help.

There are ten bedrooms located over two floors
All rooms have opening windows.

All Rooms have TV and Freeview with remote controls
Bedrooms have pine furniture
Complimentary tea and coffee making facilities and toiletries
Hair driers in all rooms
Iron and Ironing board on First Floor landing
Trouser Press on First Floor Landing
Microwave for heating childrens bottles etc in hallway on first floor.
Shoe cleaning kit on first floor landing

MEDICAL:

Medication can be stored by prior arrangement
